Motorbeurs Utrecht 2014
Visited the Utrecht show on saturday together with Klaas. Again an excellent display of classic, retro and modern stuff. We attended the Sjaak Lucassen workshop. Many of you will know Sjaak has made several trips around the world on his Yamaha R1. Sjaak told some great stories supported by beautiful photos. The R1 was on display in Utrecht (see the last 2 pictures below.) This extraordinary man is living his dream (and of many others...) A great day with beautiful weather, good company and (off course) great bikes!

Nr. 311
Ordered some stickers to spice up the fuel tank (nr. 311.) The fuel cap will get the same grey treatment (not present on the pictures.) I had to do some small jobs on the GS because I want to keep this bike ready for the road before proceeding with the GSX project. Almost done with the jobs on the GS so the GSX is up next again!

Cool archive!
A few months ago we had to reorganize at home because of a new family member. I had so many old motorcycle magazines so I decided to part with quit a bunch of them. I had already stashed the magazines in my garage as garbage when Klaas (my father in law) took them away with a special task in mind.. Over the last months he has been carefully spitting through all magazine and took out all of the interesting pages. Mainly biketests and technical stuff have been preserved. Klaas has done a great job! Thanks Klaas!

Clean up
Cleaned the frame and the rear fork. Next job is to remove all the useless lugs and brackets from the frame and give it a (local) repaint. I wan't to cut (shorten) the rear of the frame but I havent made up my mind about wich seat i'm going to use. I'm not going to fabricate the whole seat myself (like the GS.) I'm thinking of ordering a Ducati 750ss or a Laverda SFC seat. I know these kind of seats have been used a thousand projects before but I dont mind. I haven't got the same amount of time that I had for the GS project so I have to make some concessions.

Revenge of the rusty Samurai
Today Klaas and me visited 'Vehikel' in Zwolle. Vehikel is mainly about parts for motorcycles and mopeds. The spring version (in march) of Vehikel also includes classic cars.
A funny thing happened. Klaas was 'reunited' with a bike that he rode in the late sixties. It was a 1968 Kawasaki Samurai 250cc two stroke. It wasn't the exact bike that he rode back then but it was a similar one. This bike was put away in a barn after only 21.000 km and was left behind to let time and rust do the rest.. Such a shame. It still had the original tires on from 1968. .
It was the first time for us to visit Vehikel at the new location in Zwolle (after years of Utrecht.) It sure wasn't disappointing!!
